Renowned Hen Harrier campaigner, ex-RSPB Conservation Director and now Director of Wild Justice Mark Avery recently invited Alistair Gammell to write a guest blog for his website.
Alistair worked for RSPB for 40 years and was closely involved in the drafting of the Birds and Habitats Directives and for growing RSPB’s international work. He was RSPB’s first International Director and retired from RSPB in 2009.
If you haven’t already, I encourage everyone to read his story of a planning application by Affinity Water at the source of the Oughton, near Hitchin in North Hertfordshire. I think it will chime with many.
